The trip to Lake Malawi

Kyle and I returned from our trip to Malawi on Thursday afternoon. Unfortunately, we said pictures would be posted here a few days ago and it turned out that our power and internet were out for the better part of the last two days, not allowing me to follow through on this promise.

We had a restful and encouraging time at the spiritual retreat. The place we stayed was called Senga Bay, Malawi located right on Lake Malawi (check out your world map). The five hour drive took us through Malawi's capital city, Lilongwe and the rural, Malawian countryside. It is truly a sight to see all the hillsides and fields alive and green with maize. Malawi is an amazing country, where the heritage of farming is well preserved.

Our final destination was a guest lodge on the waterfront of Lake Malawi. Here we spent about four days at a spiritual retreat with the Christian Reformed Church World Relief Committee, Southern Africa team. This retreat included everyone working with CRWRC in Zambia, Malawi, Mozambique, and South Africa. The focus of the retreat was "Putting Your Faith Into Action." Kyle and I were both challenged and encouraged by the discussions and sharing. We are grateful for this opportunity to gain Biblical perspective as we head into the New Year in Zambia.

This one we found on the porch outside our room!There were moments we did not quite know what to think about these funny baboons. Perhaps they have had too much human contact.
